EMBER

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 27, 2026

Ember is an international dating application operated by Ember (the “Company,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using Ember, you agree to the practices described here. Ember is intended only for people aged 18 and older.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address, a password (which we store only in hashed form), your name, date of birth, age, and gender. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from that provider.

Profile information

To build your dating profile you may provide: photos, a bio, prompt answers, voice and video introductions, height, education, job and school, religion and religiosity, relationship and family preferences, political views, languages, ethnicity, heritage and community, lifestyle details (diet, alcohol, smoking, pets), interests, and personality results. Some of this is sensitive in nature; you choose what to share, and it is displayed to other users as part of your profile.

Identity, age, and location verification

To keep the community authentic and adults-only, we use a third-party verification provider (Didit) to verify identity and age. This process may involve a government-issued ID and a selfie or liveness check, which may include biometric facial-comparison data processed by that provider. We also use your device’s location to verify nationality and to power distance and map features.

Location information

With your permission, we collect precise (GPS) location from your device to show nearby matches, display approximate distance, power the map, and verify the country you are in. You can disable location access in your device settings, though some features will be limited.

Messages and content

We process the messages, voice notes, and other content you exchange with matches in order to deliver them and to keep the platform safe (for example, detecting prohibited or abusive content).

Payment information

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by the app stores and payment providers (Google Play, Apple, RevenueCat, and, on the web, Authorize.net). We do not collect or store your full card number. We receive confirmation of a purchase and the associated entitlement so we can unlock premium features.

Device and usage information

We automatically collect technical data such as device identifiers, push-notification tokens (via Firebase Cloud Messaging), IP address, app version, and basic usage activity to operate, secure, and improve the service.

After that period we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we must retain certain records (for example, transaction records or information needed for safety, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes).

6. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and hashing of passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to address vulnerabilities promptly.

7. Age Requirement

Ember is strictly for adults aged 18 and older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher). We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the service or collect their information. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will remove it.

8. International Data Transfers

Ember is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored on servers located in the United States. If you use Ember from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
